Easter memories

Oh, Easter. It was  quite the long weekend and by the time we actually got to Easter, our boys were overtired and over-sugared which made for a super fun & relaxing holiday :)

We headed for the chores farm late on Wednesday. Levi would not leave Nora alone making it a long drive feel even longer. We finally threatened him with no farm for the night if he touched her one more time. Of course he did and we realized we were going to have to follow thru and it would likely be more of a punishment for us! We dropped Charlie off so he could help finish feed calves and Levi took it much better than expected. Lesson learned? Highly unlikely.

Thursday and Friday the boys spent as much time as possible running around the farm and helping. We visited great grandpa & grandma, sue & nelta, and on Friday, Erik took them to see a dairy with 3 robotic milkers. They thought that was pretty cool.

Saturday morning we headed for home and Levi whined for the first half of the trip. He didn't sleep very good the last few nights and he was tired. So we listened to that annoying whine cry 3 year olds are great at for 1.5 hours. He did eventually fall asleep, just in time for Nora to wake up and be mad. Ugh. We did eventually make it to the white farm for lunch. Tracy hid eggs outside so after lunch the boys went out to find them. They had fun, but Levi lost interest pretty quickly and went exploring. He conned dad into a skidloader ride and then convinced Grandpa to mix feed. All the while, the other 2 little boys were still looking for eggs and Levi was in heaven riding in the skidloader and not having to share.
We had some other things to do so we finally got back home and it was early bedtimes for these tired children. We had kind of dropped the ball on the whole Easter Bunny thing and I didn't think they would notice since they had gotten 2 baskets already but Charlie kept talking about where his basket was hidden last year AND the contents of the basket so we figured we should come up with something at the 11th hour. So, we took some candy from the stash they'd already gotten and put it in a basket. I printed off some egg coloring pages, an egg maze for Charlie & an egg matching game for Levi and we hid the baskets.

On Easter, Erik got up early and went in to help serve the breakfast after the sunrise church service. The kids woke up happy and were very cooperative, allowing us to get out the door quickly to have breakfast at church. The 2nd church service was packed and we just barely got a spot in the very last row. During the children's sermon when Pastor asked what we celebrate at Easter, Charlie shouted "EASTER EGGS!" [Easter is a very confusing concept to explain to little guys I have found. I did try to explain it in very simple terms but I forgot that Charlie also seems to think that our Pastor is Jesus. So after my explanation he asked if "they were going to kill her this week". So I guess we'll keep working on that...]

After church we headed for home and Charlie was excited to look for his basket. Except he didn't find it in the first 2 minutes, declared he had looked EVERYWHERE and then got super upset about not finding it. He eventually found Levi's and then he got even more upset about that and ran off to his room. I showed Levi's where Charlie's was and Levi told Charlie that he had found it. But then, Charlie decided that the maze was too hard and apparently his Easter basket was not what he was expecting. He was definitely having a bad day! We fed them a quick lunch which I'm sure was also drama-filled and put them down for naps because HOLY SMOKES it was constant tears from someone.

All I wanted was 1 picture!!!!
Pretty accurate capture of the moods. HAPPY EASTER!!!

After naps for EVERYONE (!!!) we went to a new park (Charlie has a mental list of parks to try out). It was pretty windy and chilly but we had fun.

Charlie didn't have school on Monday so he helped me take some pictures of this chubby bunny. Last year on Easter we announced our pregnancy to the extended families. Nothing to report this year!!!!!!!

Love this picture of Charlie & Nora.
