The countdown is on. Clearly, I got so sucked into our amazing and blissful summer that I never really updated after mid-July (28 weeks maybe).
First things first, I did pass my 3-hour glucose test. Woohoo! I had 1 number that was high but the other 3 were fine. It was suggested that I still try to loosely follow the GD diet but it was such a relief to not have to have an official diagnosis and have to go through all of that. Knowing that I could have a smores blizzard when I wanted is excellent.
I think this baby might be the most active of the 3 pregnancies. I remember Charlie was a HARD kicker (in the ribs) and I don't really remember Levi's patterns but this baby is nuts. Moving pretty much constantly and much more of a roller than a hard kicker. Charlie loves feeling the kicks and we've seen plenty of belly shakes. It's pretty easy to tell where the butt is too.
At my last appointment we did have a first - she could not find the heartbeat! The baby was moving around & kicking like crazy the entire time. Not sure if it was just in a goofy position that made it tough to find but she ended up finding it by going through the placenta. Definitely would have had me freaked out if it wasn't obvious that baby was just fine in there watching my belly move all over & hearing it kicking the Doppler. I was also measuring behind again so I'm thinking baby could have just been sitting funny to make both of these things difficult.
On the home front, we've been making some progress on baby prep. We've got a couple of busy weekends coming up so the past few weekends I've been trying to do a few things. I think we finally got the car seat situation figured out ($$$ 2 new car seats to get everyone to fit)! I've got all of the clothes out and washed. I've been slowly working on getting some meals in the freezer. My goal is 15 and I'm getting there slowly but surely. My 2 main goals/projects of the summer got accomplished: bunk beds built & they're sleeping in them & Levi is potty trained.
Since it cooled off dramatically this week, I'm hoping to switch out most of the boys' clothes and get some random cleaning projects done. It was kind of fun to pull out some of the cool weather maternity clothes I haven't worn yet just to have a little variety. Of course I'm not wearing sweaters, I'm still warm all of the time. We haven't gotten much out of our garden yet so we're hoping it doesn't freeze. We (primarily Erik) have done 60 quarts of beans so far but we haven't done anything with tomatoes yet.
I'm sleeping like garbage most nights. Getting up at least 1-2x to use the bathroom and then just can not fall back to sleep. I am not uncomfortable in bed at all, my hips don't get sore like they have in the past. Going back to work but a big damper on my nap routine so that has been an adjustment but on the days I'm home I do still nap pretty much every day. All I really need is 20-30 minutes. I do have a lot of round ligament pain at night when I sit down but overall I feel pretty good. I try to keep my complaining to a minimum to the general public.
Charlie almost always refers to baby as "she" but if I ask he will go back and forth between boy & girl. It has been driving me nuts lately to not know. I told Erik it has never bothered me this much before to not know. Still nothing even remotely solid for names for either boy or girl. But we'll know soon enough!
I was explaining to Charlie the other day why we stay up later (in theory, adults need less sleep than kids...) and then I mentioned that tiny babies sleep a lot. He was pretty worried about how we would read to the baby if she keeps falling asleep or is sleeping all of the time. Levi responded with "do we put pillow over baby's head?" hmmm...I'm a little worried about how Levi will do but he loves holding his baby cousins so I think he'll be just fine.
Another funny Charlie story:
C - "Who's going to watch the baby when we go to the red farm?"
me - "Well, can't we take the baby with us?"
C - "But she doesn't have a movie player! We'll have to buy another movie player first!"
I told him that I thought we'd be okay since Levi is 2.5 and could care less about movies for long car rides. I just love how his little mind works!

You're in the home stretch -- so exciting! I can't even imagine waiting to know what I'm having. That takes serious discipline. I could barely stand not knowing what I was having the morning of the u/s! What a fun time this must be for you.
