17 months of spunk |
- My absolute favorite thing Levi does right now has got to be trying to wink. Him batting his eye lashes is just ridiculous and he will do it on command over and over.
- A close second new thing that just kills me is the way he throws up his hands as a response to a question he doesn't know an answer to. He's so animated.
- His language continues to develop. I'm not sure what new words he all picked up on this month but the big one is his new favorite word "NO". He loves saying "nnnnnnnnnnnnnooo" and just a decisive "no". I am very impressed with his ability to correctly answer questions with yes or no. He says "yeahhh" and "yes" clearly too. Other words I have picked up on include ball, shoes, choo choo and cheese.
- Says "hi" & waves every time you come in. He also still gets very excited when he sees everyone for the first time in the morning. When we pick him up from Cheri's he just comes flying around the corner just laughing & screaming.
- Our rocking at night has temporarily went away :( He usually just points to the crib. He does still love singing "twinkle, twinkle". He's got the tune down and will say "up above". He goes down great for nap & bed. Nap is around an hour, anything over 1.5 hour is a nice surprise. He is in bed by 7pm, getting up between 6:30-7am.
- Levi can also throw some mighty little tantrums for a 17 month old. Despite us not understanding all of the words coming out of his mouth, we usually know EXACTLY what it is that he wants. And if he can't have it, watch out! He has mastered the feet stomp, pout, scream, carrying on and sometimes even tears.
- He LOVES swimming. He likes big pools and little pools. He loves going down the little slides & jumping in. He also floats on his back pretty well and likes to dunk his head under the water. So glad both of them love the water!
- He's been doing this for a few months now but I don't think I've mentioned it here. He loves throwing clothes away in the hamper before bath time. He also still finds pure joy in putting things back in the fridge.
- When he was much littler, I wondered if he would be left handed because he always used his left hand. I've changed my mind on this - when he eats he will use his left quite a bit but I think he will be right handed.
- Grunts trying to open things. I think he gets his dramatic antics from his big brother.
This is a pretty familiar pose |
- His picky eating is getting pretty annoying. If he can dip it in ketchup or ranch he will probably eat it. We are going to have to not put condiments on the table because he freaks out if he can't have it and will just lick stuff off of his spoon or his fingers. He is most picky with vegetables. Yogurt, cheese, fruit & bread are his favorites. We continue to offer him lots of items and he continues to sort through what he wants. He's still a pretty messy eater too. He does really like using a fork & spoon and is actually really good at it too.
- One of the biggest frustrations is long car rides these days. We have been on plenty of long road trips & he doesn't appreciate being strapped in for more than 1.5 hours. He will sleep for the first hour or so and then he's just bonkers. Charlie & I try everything we can to help pass the time. Snacks work the best, but I can't really shove snacks in his face for 2 hours either! The last few trips have went better so fingers crossed he'll get over it soon.
I thought he could handle painting. Obviously he tried to eat it & smeared it in his hair. |
