Tuesday, 10/23 -- Charlie is 2 years 8 months, Levi is almost 8 months
6am – Erik gets up and I hear babbling coming from Levi’s room so I go up and get him. As usual, he’s full of smiles and ready to go. I bring him downstairs & feed him.
6:10 – I hear Charlie running around upstairs and then hear him in the bathroom talking to Erik. He comes downstairs & crawls up onto the bed to say good morning to his brother. “Hi, you! Good morning” and then when I’m trying to take a picture he keeps grabbing his head and saying, “No Levi, look at the camera” and then, “Wow! That’s a nice picture!”
6:30 – Must move now. We put Levi on the floor and get Charlie breakfast. I convince him to share just a little piece with Levi and he obliges. I also negotiate a banana share. I put Levi in his high chair & give him some pancake pieces, cheerios & banana. I also finish packing the diaper bag with bottles, blankets, etc. Erik comes down so I take the opportunity to go and get ready. It doesn’t take me very long to get ready in the morning because I meet the minimum standards and that’s about it. I also get Charlie to go on the potty after promising him he can brush his teeth after.
6:50 – Toddler/baby rodeo also known as getting dressed. I take advantage of Erik still being around. Man to man is much better than 2 on 1. I make a smoothie & toast for the road for myself while Erik hauls the diaper bag, my bag, my lunch & 2 boys out to the car. Charlie has one brief moment of freak out about something I won't let him have.
7:05 – We wave goodbye to Dad – he’s off to Fargo for a few days for work. We are off and on time for once. There have been very few days in the last couple of months where I have had help in the mornings & it is so much easier with 2 adults! It is so very dark out yet. Curses to you impending winter. I also am already dreading daylight savings time and how early Charlie will get up. It’s also drizzly. Highlights of the drive to daycare include Charlie telling me his piggy is sticking out through his sock and we’ll have to throw it in the garbage tonight. It's too dark to see tractors and we don’t see a train but when we get to daycare we can hear the horn. “That train blows his horn I think!” Levi falls asleep in the car. Charlie hears his little buddy and can’t get his shoes & jacket off fast enough.
7:20 – on the road again. I roll into work at 7:50 and decide to run into town and fill up with gas since I have time now & will not after work, even though it drops another $.15 during the day(?)...I hope it continues to drop. Still get to the office at 7:55. WIN! Wash up my smoothie cup, check my mail & get down to business.
8-12 – Work stuff.
12:15 - I make a delicious buffalo chicken wrap & get so excited to eat I don't take a picture. So tasty.
12:30-5:00 - More work stuff. I get offered a part time work from home position that I applied for which is exciting. It shouldn't require a ton of time & I am already doing similar work for another county. This will definitely help as I transition into a part time stay at home mom/part time Random Task effective November 1!!
5:00- Bust out of the office & rush to daycare. Highlights from daycare - no potty accidents again (!!!). Oh AND some parent brought their 2 daughters yesterday after finding lice in the older girl the night before. Lovely. The one who had it was only there for a bit before school & then got sent home but the younger sibling was there all day long so we are just hoping that she didn't have it. This will lead to much paranoia from me over the next few days. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck. Here I was hoping she'd just tell me they had pink eye. That I can deal with.
6:00 - Finally get home. Charlies gets a banana to hold him over while I quickly feed Levi. Then I warm up some soup we canned over the summer, throw in some leftover chicken & make grilled cheese for us. Charlie does not want to eat. Levi eats a lot of the veggies & chicken. Charlie has an accident of the unsavory variety at the table. This was definitely an accident but he wants to go more so he sits on the potty & wow...now I am nervous he's getting sick, but after that one incident he is fine. I eat my grilled cheese while also feeding Levi 2 cubes of peaches with a little bit of cereal. Charlie decides to eat now & I get him to eat his soup by giving him a raspberry in between bites. Love fruit bribes.
7:00 - I decide to ditch all kitchen clean up for the time being & play a little. We play on the floor, Charlie lines up all of his puzzles & dumps out all of the pieces and works on those. I change Levi & get him ready for bed & feed him. Sometimes he likes to rock to sleep, tonight he's fighting it so I just put him down and he rolls right over and is out.
7:45 - Back downstairs to get Charlie ready for bed. He goes potty & we brush his teeth. Then for some unknown reason he runs off screaching as loud as possible & when I tell him to stop he just does it louder. He runs up the stairs screaming & of course wakes Levi up. Not happy. I threathen no books before bed which is pretty much the worse thing ever in Charlie's mind so I tell him to get downstairs & pick up his mess. He actually does it while I try to get Levi back to sleep. Poor little buddy is so tired. I come down stairs to see sweet angel Charlie putting away all of his stuff. We put a diaper on and get his jammies on when he remembers he has to wear underwear over his diaper (he had THREE cups full of milk when we got home...tonight is not the night to try without a diaper) so back off with the jammies.
8:10 - Finally get him upstairs and start reading books. I love this time because he talks all about the kids at daycare. He likes to tell me how old they are, if they wear diapers or underwear, who their brothers or sisters are and if they are boys or girls. We have to read fast because it's dark out :)
8:30 - Charlie is out. Still so much to do. Clean up a little bit from supper (pile dishes by sink since dishwasher is full of clean dishes). Get the bottles & pump parts in the sink, get bottles lined up for tomorrow. Our house needs to be cleaned, maybe this weekend?
8:45 - I HAVE to do the 30 day Shred. A friend and I decided to do it & text each other to make sure the other is doing it every night. UGH. This is day 2 so I get to it. Jillian can be such a B but I make it through. Then I hurry up and take a shower.
9:20 - I really, really, really want to watch Parenthood (miss DVR!) so I half watch it while I finish getting stuff cleaned up & get lunch & diapers ready for the next day. Tis so nice to only have to get diapers ready for 1 child. I am getting lazy though and will just do enough for the next day instead of doing the whole basket. Decide to leave the bottle & pump dishes for tomorrow & just wipe down the counters & table. I will be annoyed at myself tomorrow for not doing them. Also feed the dog & cat and lock them in.
10:00 - Decide to call it a day. Play around on Pintrest & catch up on Pintester which I find hilarious. Fall asleep around 10:40.
11:30 - YAY! Charlie's awake. This is rare occurance, not sure what's up but it's warm upstairs (DECIDE MN WEATHER - WARM OR COLD!!!) so I turn his fan on & he goes back to sleep.
2:45 - YAY! Levi's awake??? This is even more rare than Charlie. I'm too tired at this point to deal with it so I bring him downstairs and feed him. He does not sleep good the rest of the night and is mad again at 4:00, 5:30, 6:00 until I finally get up.
Glad you got the part time job, that's awesome! So crappy about the sleep... ugh, that night sounds horrible... at least it's rare, I guess.
ReplyDeleteLice freaks me out. Since we had bed bugs in 2006 I know that lice will not be as hellish, but it's just so GROSS. Ick!
ReplyDeleteAh, a Fargo trip! I'm contemplating the half-marathon in the spring just so I have a reason to go to my home town. Then I can drag my bff along with since I know she would also like a visit (her parents don't live there anymore either).
Your little guy is looking so big! And hooray for advances on potty training.
Congrats on the job :)
I dread the day I hear about lice around my kids! Gross!!!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya on the bad night's sleep! I hope I can sleep through the night again some day. Maybe when my kids are teenagers? Maybe???
Wow, good for you doing the 30 Day Shred at 8:45 p.m. after such a full day. I don't have that kind of discipline.
ReplyDeleteYou've got some sweet little boys. I hope they don't get lice!
I don't miss those long days and nights. Glad Charlie and Levi didn't get lice and glad Charlie is still keeping his "Cars" and "Thomas" underwear clean and dry :) Only a few more days until part-time!! G'ma K
