It seems like Levi has
been around a lot longer than 2 months. He continues to be a pretty easy baby to
take care of and for that I am thankful. I am starting to see some patterns and
the possible development of routine in his schedule. He has been eating and
going down for “the night” around 8-9pm and will sometimes want to get up around 2-3 but can go until 5-6 which is awesome. He’s a mover & shaker in the bassinet and is
constantly smacking himself in the face and pulling out his Nuk. That’s
annoying. He started to dislike the fleece swaddle sacks about a month ago but
I did buy a couple of pocket type cotton swaddlers to see if that would help and it has made a huge difference. After
he gets up in the morning he will usually take a nap shortly after eating. There are more frequent and longer stretches of awake time too during the day. His naps are usually in the bouncy
chair or swing. I should probably start putting him in the crib so we can move
him up there. He eats every 3-4 hours (closer to 3) during the day and eats
about 4oz a feeding and still likes to eat more in the evenings.
He’s at
that awkward point where 0-3 month clothes are a little snug but some of the
3-6 month stuff is a little big. He is
in cloth diapers mostly during the day but I haven’t tried them at night yet or
when road tripping so he’s in size 2 disposables. He has outgrown the few
newborn diapers I had purchased & is now in the one-size, some of them
already had to be adjusted for a higher rise. The cloth definitely isn’t as
trim on his rear as the disposables.
Levi loves to smile and will talk back at people, he's starting to giggle and I can't wait for that first deep belly laugh. Charlie
likes to help unsnap his jammies, “help” with diaper changes, put the bottle
(pacifier) back in and make sure the car seat straps are always hooked up when
Levi gets out. He also comes into our
room first thing in the morning to look for his baby and as soon as Levi comes
out of the swing Charlie will put his doll in for a ride.
In the last month Levi has made 2 trips to Grandpa &
Grandma’s, went to daycare for a few hours one day, spent a whole day with dad,
and went to State FFA Convention with mom and some kids. Unlike when Charlie was a baby, there was no
overnight involved with Convention as we came home at night. Levi went with one
day and spent a good part of the day in the Moby wrap, which was one of the few
baby purchases we made this time around. I think he falls asleep as I’m putting
him in there, he likes it a lot. I’m still not going out and about as much as I
think I did with Charlie but we stay busy. When Erik is gone we make 2 trips to
daycare and have made several stops at school to meet with kids about FFA
things. One thing Levi did not get to participate in that Charlie did was a bus
ride out to Brookings for FFA…this mama’s healing tailbone was not interested
in that experience and found a couple of parents to take them out there.
