What a busy weekend! It was the first weekend in a long time we were actually home, although not much relaxing was done. Last Thursday, I took 12 kids out to Brookings, SD for FFA Contests. My dairy team finished 6th and qualified for state. The general livestock team didn't do so well, finishing 17th out of 20. But, up until 10 minutes before the contest started they were a meats team so I couldn't expect much. I also had a jr dairy team (comprised of kids who have already qualified for state in another contest) that judged just for fun...well they ended up with 2 more points than my "real" team. It was a long bus ride and I'm thankful I only have to make that trip once a year, as much as I love staying in a Super 8 and listening to the kids yell "dead deer" 48 times on the way home (yes, they really did see 48 dead deer in the ditch). The only thing that would have made the trip better would have been a pit stop in Clara City to see Jeanna & Jared!!
I no more than got home on Friday, turned around and headed to Jackpot with our friends Karin & Matt to see Gary Allan. Of course, first we hit up the buffet. It was a great concert, we had good seats, and lots of good people watching!
On Saturday we made our first Craigslist sale. We had purchased stuff off of Craigslist but never sold anything. We sold an exercise bike Erik bought when he was sick. This bike has probably put more miles riding around in vehicles than from people riding it. Needless to say it was finally time! We sold it to an older couple in Hutch. They were so nice and fun to visit with. We gave them a deal and said we would deliver and carry down to their basement. They really appreciated it and it felt good to do good favors for others. It was so nice out we also got out into the yard a little bit. There is a huge patch of little trees that we want to get rid of. We fired up Grandpa Nelson's C and Erik was in heaven. That little tractor pulled a lot of trees but I'm pretty sure it was better than Christmas morning for Erik. We also had a wedding on Saturday, luckily it was in Glencoe so no travel time.
Sunday I went golfing with the Ziggy's! Being my 3rd time golfing an actual round I thought things were okay. Haha...I only lost 2 balls and didn't lose any clubs this time. I was also able to retreive the club I lost last fall (even if it is the wrong one). I was proud of myself for sticking out all 18 holes (thanks golf teacher Bill!). We wrapped up the weekend by building shelves in our garage that hang from the ceiling. One of the guys I work with came over and helped us. It's nice to have our stuff up off the floor (less for daisy to chew on). now it's back to the grind, so much for a relaxing weekend. Erik is in Chicago for a couple of days, then I think he's done traveling for awhile.
