Waylon - 8 months

Another busy month for Waylon! He took his 2nd trip via airplane to NYC. He once again did great on the flights and we were lucky enough to get an extra seat for both flights. On our way out, he had a dirty diaper shortly after take off. I scoped out the bathroom situation when the lady behind me said I should just change him on the empty row in the back. So I was that person :) He was great in NYC and just went with the flow like usual. He spent a majority of each day in the carrier and his biggest issue was that when we got home he expected to be carried EVERYWHERE.

He is now eating everything he can get his hands on. He loves blueberries, deli meat, pancakes, sweet potatoes, eggs, cheese, carrots and well...everything. He's messy and goes between doing a great job at feeding himself or having a total fit and refusing to do it himself. I think he does a good job of feeding himself when he wants to. There are some meals where he just has a total fit the entire time.

Just over a week ago he figured out how to push himself up to a sitting position - he was really happy to figure that one out. Once he figured it out, it was like he'd been doing it forever.

He's also starting to crawl. He skipped the army crawl and it didn't take him long to master basically crawling on all 4's. I would say he crawls on all 3's as he sort of drags his one leg along behind but he can get to wherever he wants to go. He is loving getting into the toys, looking into books and putting everything in his mouth. He is perfectly content for a long period of time if we give him a tote of toys and tip it over so he can dig them out. Or if we give him the bucket of blocks he will play with those, too. Of course now that he's mobile he usually makes a beeline right for Charlie's game or Levi's farming operation. He also loves to unplug the carbon monoxide detector in the bedroom (then when I moved it, he pulled the vent cover out of the wall instead!!!) and he loves to pull the bottom piece off of the fridge, which was Levi's major fascination. I have a feeling we will have another wild child on our hands.

Still sleeping like a newborn...at this point I am just not going to do anything about it until we move, then he will have a room and a crib and we can work on it. His morning nap is pretty whacky as well because he's always ready for a nap when we have to take the boys in to summer rec. So he takes a 20 minute car nap and then wakes up as soon as I take him out of the car. His afternoon is typically pretty decent - better if I stay by him! At night, he's going to bed around 8-9pm and then is usually up around 10:30, 2am, and 6am. Good times.

A few weeks ago, I bought him an amber necklace because I know many people who swear by them and his chin was always rashy from drooling. Does it work? I don't know. He has gotten his first 2 teeth  which didn't seem to bother him since he started wearing it and he doesn't drool at all. But what I can't believe is how many times he has been called a girl. He has the most boyish features (at least I think) and several of the times he's been wearing a "little brother" shirt. So I guess wearing a shirt that says BROTHER does not make him a boy, but wearing a necklace must make him a girl!
