Charlie Lately

We're still here! We have all been extra busy & we are ready for winter to be over.  I just started the last trimester of school & the end is in sight (despite teaching 2 brand-new classes this tri)! Erik traveled for most of January & February but his travels are slowing a little bit for now. We all enjoy having him home during the week.

Charlie has been keeping us busy as always.  He had a great first birthday. After the big bash at our house, we also celebrated down in SE MN. Great grandma wasn't satisfied with his cake eating the first time around so she made another cake for him. Once again he was more interested in flinging the cake around then eating it. And, solidifying my place as mother of the year, I didn't have any extra clothes along, so after a quick bath in the sink, he got to wear a pair of socks home for pants.

At his 1 year doctors appointment, Charlie checked in at over 24 pounds. He got another round of shots & blood draw for a lead test. He was not pleased with either of these activities. I have a feeling next time we got to the clinic he will know somethings up when we get there. He already has his doubts about the nurse when we go.

Charlie continues to be a great eater. He is over any sort of pureed food & enjoys whatever we are eating. It amazes me how much he can eat in one sitting. Sometimes he gets a little too excited and shoves way too much in at a time.  He likes grapes, but looks like a little chimpunk because he really packs them in there. We are still looking for something he doesn't like, but no complaints so far!  He's also getting good at drinking out of a cup, but he tips it up a little too far sometimes.

We have been working hard on teaching the meaning of "no" over the past few weeks.  Now that Charlie is quite mobile (not walking, yet) he can get into everything within seconds. He has his favorite drawers & enjoys trying to turn on the DVD player. Slowly but surely we might be effective with this "no" thing. He still loves reading books (& throwing them all off of the shelf), playing catch, bath time, & looking for/panting at Daisy.  He also does great at daycare, watching & playing with the other kids.  It makes it so much easier to take him each day when he goes right to her & wants to go play.
We are definitely anxious for some warm weather & longer days so we can get outside.

  1. Oh why don't you have a pic of him with the sock pants?? That's hilarious! It'll be fun to see how much he has changed the next time we get together...can't believe he's already one!
